Lives and Works in New York City USA
Media requests: sfscoppa@gmail.com
My work draws from themes that are as contemporary as they are historic, as personal as they are universal. The drawings and paintings have an intensity that still leave room for a poignant rendering of what it is to live in an urban culture that celebrates the victor and disregards the vanquished. As the bold gesture in art continues to permeate, while auction records are set and reset, while warehouses are converted to house private collections and museums continue to champion the historicized my art speaks through the quieter medium of found and recycled materials. I speak of the struggles that we all encounter and of the rewards that, for some, can come with tenacity and pluck. In a similar way, the viewer is rewarded by a considered exploration of the images that circle throughout and within my work; recognizable images that nonetheless offer an opportunity to impose a very personal narrative
A graduate of Georgetown University Kirkpatrick was honored with the Leonardo DaVinci Medal of Excellence and the Misty Daily Award. Kirkpatrick studies intermittently at The Art Students League of New York. A fan of the alternative art community that has developed outside the gallery and museum system, she often installs high resolution to scale prints on downtown streets and subway walls which are tough to discern from an original work.
